Artist Statement:
Something that really resonated with me throughout this course was the concept of rebuilding the environment we already have, rather than striving to replace it. My mixed media work demonstrates we should be protecting what is of value to us. I have painted a landscape in a fairly traditional style, inspired by local scenery, safely preserved in packaging — the way that an old classical painting would be stored to be cherished for years to come. Our ancient planet is valuable, but more importantly, irreplaceable. Like an antique work of art, it must be cared for and protected, because it connects us to our past, before human influence.
