Attend mandatory Sleep Health Workshops for students and professors! Enjoy 24/7 access to low lit rooms throughout the OCADU buildings with reclining, comfy couches, and a tea (or hot chocolate) making station. Yes, there it is, you found it! A safe space to nap and re-charge before classes! - Kaylee Meyer

Artist Bio and Statement

I am Kaylee Meyer, an international third year Life Studies student. I am interested in how sleep affects students’ productivity, mental health and well-being. Many students and professors do not know or understand the importance and benefits of sleep health. I have seen how both parties contribute to a culture of bad habits, stigma and expectation as it relates to sleep and work productivity. I wish that OCADU would function more like a community, so that we could share knowledge more often and be more empathetic. Health and Wellness Centre has professionals who can help students with sleep issues; and persons to teach about sleep health but they do not get the chance to make it a main source of discussion. Working along HWC made me realize that information about their resources does not get distributed evenly among both staff and student. OCADU does not have spaces that are sleep friendly even though there are a lot of students who work late or take several classes a day or even have sleep disorders! Hopefully OCADU will put systems in place so that the knowledge gap lessens and safe spaces are created to accommodate all.
