OCADU, you care about art! So why not your art makers? Let’s take care of our wrists, not take the risks. 10/10 appointments at Health and Wellness are risky wristy situations. Don’t take the chance, instead enhance, your ergonomic dynamic. - Jerad Beauredard

Artist Bio and Statement

Hello, my name is Jerad Beauregard. I am a third year Drawing and Painting student here at OCADU. My studio practice at this time heavily focuses on large scale figurative painting which thematically pits two figures in conversation with each other. The dynamic between the figures creates the atmosphere and story of the piece. Working at a large scale demands that I spend a lot of time working in the studio to finish each piece. Mostly I work with my shoulder and elbow. However, when it comes down to the details it’s all in the wrist. The long hours in the studio can be very demanding on the body, this is why it is important to value the health of your wrist and other joints. Always take note of how you are feeling. Rest your wrist if it starts to feel sore. Through this project I have had the opportunity to expand my knowledge on health-related issues, particularly wrist-related injuries. It is my goal with the project that I may bring a sense of awareness to joint related physical health so that all students have the opportunity to take precautions and prevent potential injury.
