Join us online for a series of workshops that will introduce you to the world of zines and zine making! Each workshop will be offered twice, with the second session being recorded. 

Introduction to Zines and Self-Publishing 

Whether you’ve never made a zine or if you’re a seasoned self-publisher looking for more options, this talk will help outline the possibilities of self-publishing, big and small. This introduction to zines and self-publishing will share info and recommendations for planning, creating, printing and distributing your publication. Come feast your eyes on a range of examples from the OCAD Zine Library collection!

Introduction to InDesign for Zines 

Adobe InDesign is a desktop publishing software that can be used to design and layout a range of materials for print including zines and self-published books. This casual introduction will give you enough skills to start working with InDesign (and suggest resources to develop more specialized skills down the line). This presentation is intended for current OCAD U students who are new to the software and will provide an overview to creating files and laying out a zine or book project. We're not experts, but we're happy to introduce you to this useful and powerful publishing tool!

On January 18th we will be launching our new software support chat! Book a meeting with one of our experienced student staff members to get help using a software taught at OCAD U, including:

• Adobe Creative Suite programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign

• Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Powerpoint and Excel 

• Motion graphics programs such as After Effects, Premiere and iMovie

• 3D modeling software such as AutoCAD, Sketchup, Revit and Rhino
