OCAD U Library 2021 Winter

Interlibrary loan updates

Looking for resources outside the OCAD U Library collection?

Interlibrary loan allows students, staff, and faculty to borrow materials from libraries across North America, for research or private study. During the COVID-19 shutdown we continue to fulfill requests for e-resources, such as online journal articles and ebook chapters from libraries across Canada. These can be requested using the RACER service. Create an account using the 14-digit barcode found on your OCAD U ID card, then search for the materials you need and create a request. E-resources will usually arrive within a few business days and are sent directly to you by email, as a password-protected link to the material.

Due to the COVID-19 shutdown and library closure, new interlibrary loans for physical books are on hold. Any print materials that have already shipped or been loaned out, have had their due dates extended until we are able to accept returns at the OCAD U Library. In some circumstances, it may be possible to borrow individual scanned chapters from print books, depending on the policies and availability of staff/materials at other libraries, as well copyright and licensing agreements. These can be requested in the same way as ebook chapters; be sure to include the chapter title and page numbers.

For more information about any of the above, help with RACER accounts, or anything to do with interlibrary loans, please contact OCAD U librarian Sarah Butterill at sbutterill@ocadu.ca.
