Open Research (openresearch.ocadu.ca) is a digital archive managed by the University Library to collect, preserve, and distribute scholarly and creative output generated by the OCAD U community.
Open Research would like to collaborate with faculty and research groups who are interested in depositing their works, past and present. Depositors must possess copyright for submitted items or obtain permission from publishers/copyright owners. Assistance with verifying rights is available.

Visibility: by making your research available in Open Research you are increasing exposure to your work, which can lead to increased citation of research overall.
Preservation: Open Research is managed by your library and ensures the long-term storage and preservation.
Indexing: Quality metadata, indexing by Google, and inclusion in directories such as OpenDOAR provide multiple points of access to your research. Additionally, inclusion in Open Research gives your work context through its inclusion in a thematic repository while providing a complimentary mode of distribution.
Compliance with funding requirements of the Tri-Agency (SSHRC, NSERC, and CIHR): Recipients of grants from these agencies are now required to ensure that any peer-reviewed journal publication arising from Agency-supported research is freely available within 12 months of publication. Depositing an article or a post-print manuscript to Open Research will fulfill this requirement.
Open Research repository provides metrics and statistics so that researchers can track their hits and downloads. This short guide will demonstrate the various types of statistics that can be generated in Open Research.
1. Visit Open Research repository at openresearch.ocadu.ca and click on the Statistics tab.
2. The default view shows statistics for all items in the repository. However there are a number of reports that the software can display. To look at your own statistics select the Filter Items tab on the top-left and either search for or scroll to your name.
3. In your author view you can see your downloads and hits over time, broken down by publication. From this view, you can acquire more information by clicking the Available Reports page. Reports include Comparison per year, Summary, Requests, and Deposits.
4. Requests show where in the world your works are being accessed from. Hover the cursor over a country and the number of downloads for that region will be displayed. Lower on the page you can see which indexes and search engines led users to your works as well as which browsers they used.
