Research Data Management Services at OCAD University

This guide will provide information on research data management (RDM) including policy, planning, security, description, and sharing based on best practices.

Research Services, IT Services, and the Library are working together to support researchers in managing their data from the moment of funding, through to publication of research results. On March 15, 2021 the Tri-Agency (CIHR, NSERC, and SSHRC) launched the Tri-Agency Research Data Management Policy. OCAD University is developing its institutional strategy to fulfil the requirements of this new policy which comes into effect March 2023.

The agencies believe that research data collected through the use of public funds should be responsibly and securely managed and be, where ethical, legal and commercial obligations allow, available for reuse by others.

Our institutional strategy will include all the ways OCAD University will support planning, storage, preservation and sharing of research data. This guide will continually evolve to point users to best practices, free resources, and tools to meet all data requirements required of research projects at OCAD University.

The objective of this policy is to support Canadian research excellence by promoting sound RDM and data stewardship practices. This policy is not an open data policy.

We will be consulting with faculty and developing programming to produce an institutional strategy best suited to the OCAD University research culture as we respond to this new policy environment.
