Artists' Books at OCAD University Library

Abstract: An essay is presented on that delves into the works of artists' books at the Centre for Fine Print Research at the University of the West of England, which has generated a huge amount of activity from research and investigations into book arts.

Abstract: The article examines the contemporary practices of book art in the East Indian subcontinent. It says that there are two schools of thought when placing book art in contemporary times: the one that reveres the book as a ritualistic object, a carrier of information and the one that honors the form of the book, considering it to be in constant change.

Abstract: The article discusses the evolution of postliteracy by reading artistsbooks. Topics discussed include challenges of speaking the language of the books, presence of postmodernism in language of scholars, views of Joan Lyons, co-founder of the Visual Studies Workshop, on the importance of books and mentions homogeneity of printed language in books.

Abstract: The article discusses the photographic images in artist's books. Topics discussed include appearance of viewer's hand and the photographed hand in such books, procrastination performed by the photographed hands in the books, presence of fidgeting and fumbling in human gesture and mentions haptic experience of reading associated with flip books.
