This fall the OCADU Zine Collective began running a series of workshops. Students shared their knowledge of zine making and collage with other students and Learning Zone Librarian Marta Chudolinska taught the art of book binding, screen printing and how to layout a printable zine in InDesign.
Workshops will continue in the winter semester. Keep an eye on the Zine Collective Facebook Page for a schedule.

At the end of the fall semester, assistant professor Catherine Heard delivered a great new addition to the Learning Zone: a gumball machine that dispenses artist multiples!
The Magic Gumball Machine of Fate is a project curated by Catherine, and the Learning Zone's machine is one of seven machines vending artists works across the city. This is the second machine on OCADU's campus, the other is located at the top of the spiral staircase in 100 McCaul.
The one in the Learning Zone currently features works by Form and Structure students and the proceeds will be donated to Lifeline Syria. Previous multiples available through OCADU machines have come from publications and illustration students.
The two machines located at Artscape Youngplace currently feature work by Amy Bowles and Penelope Stewart and the 100 McCaul machine features Hannah Zbitnew's Lucky Tokens collection of ceramic pins. The other machines can be found at Open Studio (401 Richmond), 900 Queen Street, and a local high school that curates its own multiples projects.

The next scheduled exhibition will be from students in SCIN 3008, Artist's Multiples. It will appear in the Learning Zone's machine in March 2017.
