International Day for Persons with Disabilities, or IDPwD for short, is observed annually on December 3rd. This observance has been promoted by the United Nations since 1992.

IDPwD aims to promote the rights and wellbeing of disabled people across the globe, no matter their socio-economic status, race, gender, ethnicity or factors of their background.

Each year, the United Nations designates a theme for International Day for Persons with Disabilities. The theme for 2023 is "United in action to rescue and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) for, with and by persons with disabilities". We elaborate more on this in the 'This Year's Theme' section of this subject guide.
