Getting Started

You can now upload and view files in the Kurzweil Web portal. Unless otherwise specified, this is how OCADU Library will share your Kurzweil file(s).

We create a folder with your course code, and then nest folders for each title you’re requesting. These files are private and managed by the Alternate Formats Coordinator. OCADU Library will notify you once your files are ready.

  1. Click on your Universal Library.

  1. Expand your username folder, and then click into your private folder.

  1. Click on the file corresponding to the course you’ve requested files for.

  1. Click on the folder corresponding to the title of a requested item.

  1. Clicking the file name will open it in the browser.

Occasionally, for larger items, we may need to create files per chapter or section of your requested resource. We will check with you to divide this content based on your preferences.

Uploading Files to the Kurzweil Library

You can also upload content directly to the Universal Library. This is useful if you’ve found an accessible PDF file for your required reading, but need it converted to a Kurzweil file. To do so, you should:

  1. Click on your Universal Library.

  1. Expand your username folder, and then click into your private folder.

  1. Click on the orange Upload button to upload a file. Select the PDF file from your device.

  1. Let the file finish uploading (you’ll see a percentage % indicator at the top left). Once it’s uploaded, you’ll see the file in your Universal Library to click on.

2.3 - User display for the Universal Library in Kurzweil 3000 web application. This user is in their private folder located in their user profile.
