Current Library Services

Dorothy H. Hoover Library and Library Learning Zone Fall 2022 hours of operation

  • Dorothy H. Hoover Library is open 9AM-7PM, Monday-Thursday; 9AM-5PM, Friday; 12-8PM, Sunday
  • The returns box is open for book drop-offs: 8:30 AM-8PM, Monday-Friday
  • Library Learning Zone (LLZ) is open 9AM-7PM, Monday-Thursday; 9AM-5PM, Friday

Books and Fines

  • Book Returns: If you are an OCAD U student, staff, or faculty member, and unable to return your book(s) within the current hours of operation, please contact us at circulation@ocadu.ca. If you are a special member or alumni, please also contact us, so that we can discuss an alternative arrangement for you to return your items

  • Class Registration - Library fines balances will need to be cleared before registering for courses. To do this using the online payment system, please see below. (To view if you have any fines, you can login to your library account and check the "current balance")

  • Graduation Assessment - Students carrying a balance of fines, will be required to clear them before submitting an application to graduate. If this applies to you, please follow the procedures below. (To view if you have any fines, you can login to your library account and check "Fine + Fees")

  • Paying library fines online - Please send an email to studentaccounts@ocadu.ca, letting them know that you would like to pay library fines, and providing them with your Name and Student Number. Once they confirm the total amount owed with the library, they will provide you with a personal link to process your payment, using a credit card

Electronic Collections

  • If you're not able to visit the library in person, the majority of the Library’s collection remains available online and accessible off-campus through the Library’s search engine Omni, Journal Portal and Databases A – Z system located on the Library's homepage

  • Course Reserves remain available through Canvas and new reading requests or alterations will be accepted from faculty

Research Help

Interlibrary Loans

  • Interlibrary loan of print books are available for in-person pickup at the library

  • Interlibrary loan of e-resources (online articles and eBook chapters) continues to be available

  • The Interfilm service for media materials requested by faculty is currently halted
