This Libguide collects English language learning resources for students, staff and faculty. At OCAD U, students whose first language is not English are designated ELL, or English Language Learners, also sometimes known as ESL (English as Second Language) or multilingual.
It contains material such as books, magazines, journals and multimedia material found in the Dorothy H. Hoover library as well as e-books, films, podcasts and websites that can be accessed online.
These materials can help learners to improve their reading skills, vocabulary, speaking, listening, pronunciation and writing in English, in addition to accessing the ELL services such as tutoring and workshops at the Writing and Learning Centre.
Are words and phrases such as call number, catalogue, and course reserve new to you? If so, here are some tools that translate and give definitions of common library vocabulary and phrases.
If you want to borrow library materials in person, here's a guide on how to sign out and renew items from the OCAD U libraries.
If you want to search the catalogue before your visit for print books, ebooks, journals, magazines, DVDs, VHS, exhibition catalogues and artist books, use this link to get started. Videos included.
